Dow Falls Slightly 0.33 Point

StockWatch (Jakarta) - The Dow Jones Industrial Averages (DJIA) closed down further in the closing on Monday (23/6) but only slightly by 0.33 point (0.00%) at 11,842.36 after plunging on Friday (20/6) by 220.40 points (1.83%) as the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) dropped 20.35 points (0.85%) at 2,385.74 but the Standard & Poor's 500 (S&P500) increased 0.07 point (0.01%) at 1,318.00.

Trading in the US main stock market was relatively quiet on Monday as investors were waiting for the result of meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on June 25, in which the Fed is expected to keep the interest rate at 2%. Financial and consumer sector stocks stepped down after Goldman Sachs recommended that investors sell stocks related with economy and finance.

Similarly, the Asia Pacific stock market indices were down duirng the morning session on Tuesday (24/6) as Australia's the market index All Ordinaries at 11:06 local time dropped 27.90 points (0.52%) at 5,381.00, South Korea's Kospi index at 10:07 Seoul time tumbled 1.97 points (0.11%) at 1,714.13 and Japan's Nikkei 225 index stepped down 69.73 points (0.50%) at 13,787.74.
